Guild Cards Season 1 Tokenomics and Distribution

The following is our recommendation for the tokenomics and distribution of Guild Cards Season 1

CONTEXT:

Combat Strength & Rarity:

Every Guild Card contains a number representing its Combat Strength (CS) and a color representing its Rarity. CS ranges from 0-4 and represents the additional Combat Strength each card brings to a battle in Strategotchi. The rarity tiers are Common, Rare, Legendary, Mythical and Godlike and these represent the overall rarity of a card. CS and Rarity are not directly correlated.

*Some Guild Cards have special icons (axe and shield) which provide extra benefits in battle.

Guild Decks:

Each player’s Guild Deck consists of 7 slots which can be equipped with either Guild Cards or wearables. The deck must consist of a combination of specific Combat Strengths.
The following numbers represent the maximum CS a player can equip to any deck:
[4, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1, 0].

Wearables as Guild Cards:

For Common to Legendary wearables, CS is directly derived from the rarity of the wearable, where Common = 1 CS, Uncommon = 2 CS, Rare = 3 CS, and Legendary = 4 CS.

Mythical and Godlike wearables may have any number CS from 0-4 plus additional written effects and/or special icons, similar to Guild Cards.

Weapon wearables may also have written effects and/or special icons.

Wearables may not be used to occupy the “0” CS slot. Only Guild Cards and Tides of War Cards can occupy the “0” slot.

Tides of War Cards: (free to play alternative to Guild Cards)

If a player is unable to equip a slot, they can elect to leave it empty. Players will receive 1 Tides of War card for each empty slot in their deck. These cards apply a random buff or nerf to your CS when used in battle and are therefor less ideal than Guild Cards or wearables.

Tides of War cards are in-game only, (not own-able NFTs).

Deck Building:

Each slot in a deck can hold a specific CS. The max CS for each respective slot is as follows:
[4, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1, 0].

A player may choose to use a less powerful deck such as:

[3, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1, 0], or

[3, 2, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0]

However, they may not choose a more powerful deck such as:

[4, 4, 2, 2, 1, 1, 0], or

[4, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1]

Every deck MUST contain a “0” card, (or a ToW card in its place.)

No deck can hold more than a single “4” card.

Additionally, the “0” slot may NOT be filled with a wearable (only a “0” Guild Card), and players who do not use a “0” Guild Card will be forced to use a Tides of War card in its place.

A typical wearables deck would look as follows:

[1x Legendary, 1x Rare, 2x Uncommon, 2x Common, 1x Tides of War]

TOKENOMICS:

Then first season of Strategotchi Guild Cards will feature 40 unique cards split between the 5 rarities, Common to Godlike.

Model 1: distributes cards more evenly across rarity tiers

Total supply: 675 cards

Godlike:
25 (5x 5 unique cards)

Mythical:
50 (10x 5 unique cards)

Legendary:
150 (15x 10 unique cards)

Rare:
200 (20x 10 unique cards)

Common:
250 (25 x 10 unique cards

Model 2: increased rarity for upper tiers

Total supply: 645 cards

Godlike:
15 (3x 5 unique cards)

Mythical:
30 (6x 5 unique cards)

Legendary:
100 (10x 10 unique cards)

Rare:
200 (20x 10 unique cards)

Common:
300 (30 x 10 unique cards

DISTRIBUTION:

Model 1: Closed packs

This model hides the cards in closed packs auctioned through GBM.

We recommend splitting the total supply into packs of 3. This will reduce clutter on the GBM page and incentivize people to bid higher.

1-a. 225 packs of 3 (675 total supply, tokenomics model 1)

1-b. 215 packs of 3 (645 total supply, tokenomics model 2)

Optional:

Distribute 20% of packs via raffle

1-a.

-180 packs auctioned on GBM

-45 packs Raffled

Or,

1-b.

  • 172 packs auctioned on GBM

  • 43 packs raffled

Model 2: Auction each card individually

In this model, we do away with packs and list each card as its own GBM auction. This may lead to higher price discovery in the upper rarity cards and players will have the ability to bid on specific cards they are interested in. However, it loses the novelty of the closed pack, which is a familiar concept (portals) in the Aavegotchi ecosystem.
