Jeez, this got people triggered… It’s funny to see how people tend to accuse others of doing exactly the same they are doing (‘they have an us vs. them mentality, I don’t’, ‘they are biased, I’m not’, ‘they wanna nerf us, I don’t’, ‘they are self-interested, I’m not’ etc.). I’d rather not engage TBH, especially with the tone used. To each their own.
Personally I have nothing against owners of several gotchis and making it easier for them, but I simply stated the FACT that the main reason why the mechanic was changed was precisely to make it easier for them to keep up and be competitive (I use the term ‘them’ because I only own two gotchis, not because I see them as my enemies or anything else some people might wanna see here).
Nothing wrong with that, except the questionable way it was done (I’m pretty sure if it was something certain participants were against, we’d be seeing a different discussion about due process, how this hurts the DAO, etc). Now, there is another FACT, which is that the change that was aimed at keeping a part of the community competitive, now makes another part of the community less competitive, so we’ve basically transferred the disadvantage (it’s both the rentals available and the alchemica spillovers, so it doesn’t only affect renters but players in unfavorable time zones as well).
Still, I can understand it couldn’t be foreseen, but it’s not so hard to see that it’s unfair now and needs to be changed (as unfair as the original mechanic was to multiple gotchi owners, if you wanna see it that way). That said, I, as all of us, am probably a bit biased and tend to lean towards something, so I might say the current mechanic is ‘terrible’ and the previous one was ‘not that bad’ but that doesn’t blind me from seeing the fact that both create inequalities and that the way the change was implemented wasn’t the fairest.
As for the solution, I don’t understand this back and forth, if most of the consensus is option A, anyone who is not full of bull and truly thinks about the community as a whole would vote A and not care so much about the other options. Still, since this is a DAO and people have the right to choose whatever the hell they want, adding the three options is probably the best to satisfy the need people have to express themselves.
