Wearables Taask Force

100% on board with this idea. As others have stated, this feels like a good evolution of the DAO & managing such a critical aspect concerning MRS & wearables.

Presently this would be a good way to identify gaps in trait distribution as others have mentioned, and in the future could be a good committee to explore further utility for wearables as the platform matures & the metaverse rolls out.

Excellent initiative, thanks @diddlypoo for taking the lead!
Here are 2 questions i think should be discussed in the first meeting:

  • for each slot & rarity, what should be the next stats released? (random ex: uncommon eyes needs -BRN, common face needs +SPK,ā€¦)
  • what should be the wearable supply calendar? (ex: 3 pieces of each rarity every 3 months for raffles, and every 2 months during GBM Auctions)
  • what are the OP items? (iā€™m looking at you godlike eyes)
  • what are the best selling items per category & why are they? (floor sweepers, really swag, OP,ā€¦)
  • what are the Aavegotchis that are the most difficult to dress ? (ex: -NRG -AGG +SPK +BRN for legendary, +NRGā€¦ for myths,ā€¦)
Iā€™ve been working on this question with Jesse & Dan back in April (a bit outdated, but hereā€™s the report: WearableStudy.pdf - Google Drive).
I feel it is the next natural step to let the community drive this reflexion, and would be happy to keep sharing my ideas in that task force.

A wearble task force is a great addition. Once the task force is established, what do you think about a bracketed rarity farming contest with wearables/raffle tix as a prizes? example: 3 spirit force summoning brackets divided into (un)common, rare, legend, myth, max. wearables brackets. The idea can be refined to be all inclusive #& gain data on the wearable research;)

How many people will comprise this task force? Iā€™d love to get involved with this in some capacity and therefore nominate myself. Though Iā€™m not the most vocal in discord, I keep a tight pulse on everything and have been here since day 1. My first child, Trottr The Horse, is somewhat well-known in discord though likely not as well-known as my nickname for bedtime milk (ā€œbasement mielkā€).

I come from an engineering background and have always had a passion for game design (including a bit of coursework in college a few years ago). I think I could add some interesting perspective in how to rebalance things while keeping the wearables ecosystem interesting (i.e. I donā€™t necessarily believe in every slot, rarity, and trait effect combination being represented equally at any given point in time). Would also be able to represent the faction of people who own 1-4 gotchis and scattered wearables (the middle-class so to speak).

Would love to be considered!

Some initial thoughts on the state of wearables while I take a coffee break. Some of these pertain to the current state of the world and some are more abstract ideas:

  1. Coming up with a more predictable schedule for new wearables could be worth exploring, but I worry about putting the dev team on a timeline or diluting wearable supply during a long stretch without a haunt. We could, instead, spec out an event-based schedule for wearable drops. For example, a large batch with each new haunt, a smaller batch X weeks after a haunt, another small batch X months after that unless a new haunt is pending. Promotional sets would continue to sprinkle on demand.

  2. We could introduce items that provide extra BRS in place of trait adjustments? This could provide variety and flexibility while being less ideal for ARS. For example, a rare wearable that applies +7 BRS only instead of +5 BRS and 3 trait shifts. It feels like the BRS bonus is directly tied to item rarity so this might be more work than itā€™s worth.

  3. When it comes time to think about how certain items will affect realm activity, we can make the more diluted buckets of slot-rarity more appetizing by looking to those first for in-game functionality. For example, we should probably give body items realm perks before face items as face items are already scarce enough to have inherent value beyond other slots.

  4. When equipping a wearable set, there are ā€œflexā€ slots that the set doesnā€™t use. One dynamic worth exploring is the supply of certain item slots compared to how often they are a flex slot. For example, right now having too many sets with face items can cause problems given their low supply and inflated prices. On the other hand, there are very few sets that leave the body as a flex slot (wizard sets are the only example that arenā€™t a one-off).

  5. On the note of flex slots, there is only one set that currently takes advantage of both hand slots (master sushi chef). When considering new sets that cross-pollinate, we should look into mix and matching hand items to give some other item slots more opportunity to be flex slots.

  6. Can sets be used to allow certain items to behave in different ways? For example, could the Link General set have provided +4 BRN in addition to itā€™s current bonuses in order to effectively transform the Bubbly item into a +2 NRG, +2 BRN item? (instead of -2 BRN which counteracts the other items in the set). Maybe if you add a gotchi coffee mug to the blue vacationer set it gives +6 NRG instead of -2, effectively reversing the NRG effect from the set. This definitely adds complexity but can also serve as an alternative to simply creating items and sets to provide bonuses that arenā€™t very common.

  7. Probably not a discussion for this committee but for RF, wearables run the show. Yes, having a 570+ gotchi is helpful but having godlike wearables is necessary. Introducing a RF leaderboard for gotchis without legendary+ wearables (or rare+) could be a nice way to give more common wearables some love. Since it would run in tandem with the normal rarity leaderboard, top rarity owners wouldnā€™t participate since doing so would require them to unequip wearables that allow them to top the normal leaderboard.

I nominate myself if there are no qualms about the overlap with my membership in the Frens Task Force.

But how does one deal with the secret sets?
To analyse them they need to be out of the blue right?

I think we can collectively figure out what they are.

yes! WTF FTW! there can be so much depth to wearables with the upcoming realm and interactions, etc, would love to see this going

I donā€™t think there should be a restriction put on people being in multiple committees at this stage of the project, and members should not hesitate to apply to multiple committees. I think the unfortunate reality is that there just arenā€™t that many applicants for these task forces, and the number of task forces is growing at a rapid pace. This puts us in an unfortunate situation of simply putting anyone that applies into committees with no merit based requirement at all.

Instead, I believe members should be re-elected to these committees on a regular basis, perhaps quarterly. We can have a sort of ā€œelection dayā€ every quarter where we set up an approval based voting scheme to elect from all members who express interest in being in a committee. There may be some committees that have a clear and extreme conflict of interest with other committees, and in these cases it would be prudent for those members to abstain from being in those committees. But overall, I think that members being in multiple committees is something we shouldnā€™t be overly concerned about until more community members participate actively in the DAO.

The information of these sets has already been released publicly by community members in Discord.
Itā€™s not difficult to get the info from subgraph from what I understand.

It would be nice to have at least one person with statistics expertise on this committee. I would love to assist such a person, asking stupid questions that will lead to the game balance.

Iā€™d be happy to help with statistics work. I am actually a statistician by trade, but Iā€™m not sure Iā€™m a good fit for the WTF because I donā€™t really trade in wearables all that much. Iā€™m always happy to help on an ad-hoc basis though if there is data collection or analysis that needs to be done.

Great idea to get this task force going.

Been here for a while, and got some decent experience on what the wearables while building the community API aavegotchi.land

I would like to nominate myself for this task force, so that my data analysis tool can be put to use in this domain too.

Thanks!

Yeah I very much agree with this. If thereā€™s no concerns about possible conflicts of interest between different taask forces Iā€™ll also apply for the WTF.

As for my rĆ©sumĆ©, Iā€™ve been flipping wearables since launch and have a severe baazaar addiction (seriously, please help).

Same here, I would be happy to help to analyze the current data, find potential improvements and wearable suggestions.

Hi guys! I would like to apply for the WTF too. I spent half of my day checking the bazaar, so I even dream with the wearables
