Do whatever you want, but there are people who have supported the project from the beginning, who have staked the project continuously from the beginning, who have brought liquidity, who have done all the discord missions, who have voted, who have used the Testnet, who have logged in within a minute for the sale of portals, who have put everything in “fast” … and who have had no portals.
It’s still the early days of Aavegotchi, NFTs, and crypto in general. Aavegotchi is an experimental project in an experimental technological space. We have to allow for imperfection. Everything can be improved and iterated with time.
Unique projects with vision and community will succeed beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. I believe Aavegotchi could be that, if we focus on the long term.
I really love this project and I hope the team can figure out a better distribution mechanism. I’m part of the ones that didn’t get a portal
I know It isn’t simple because many things need to be evaluated. My suggestion is to take the time to think before rushing on something half-cooked.
My questions/suggestions:
1- Before deciding on a new haunt can the team do a proper postmortem about what worked as expected and what didn’t.
2- What role played the meta transactions?
from Discord
To be fair we were working very closely with Biconomy on this and they assured us things would go very smoothly, when in the end it looked like the gasless approve functions wrecked their system
I ended up to wait for an eternal sign and then an eternal approval. Then the portals were sold out.
3- I heard of thousand of users connected but there are only ~3000k GHST holders on Matic. Token Tracker | PolygonScan so we had on paper 3 portals each… This should be an important factor
4- Could the team, because he has all the data point, think of a different approach to foster a better distribution.
Possible improvements to foster a better distribution:
1- no gasless transactions if they are a bottleneck
2- no publishing of the smart contract and the FE at the same time.
3- we could imagine a mint function activate at a specific block number so everyone can at least have all the approvals ahead
4- 1 transaction => 2 portals 100 GHST each; 3-5 portals 200 GHST each: 5-10 portals 400 GHST each; 10-15 800 GHST each; 15-20 GHST 1600 each; 20-25 GHST 3200 GHST
5- A dedicated haunt for early adopter GHST holders (before snapshot date XX)
6- A dedicated haunt for FRENS holders (before snapshot date XX)
Or just distribute Portals out to those who rightfully purchased them but were denied today, and change the system for the next one to 1 Portal per wallet per reload, so that at least poeple have to do SOME work to get an extra share.
Another reason to dole out the fair share of Portals from earlier today - now that the news is public, the hoards will descend upon the next drop and the chances will be nearly impossible to attain one.
Once again people not living in a US or European timezone get screwed over as these drops happen in the middle of the night. Surely a fairer model can be established!
Absolutely agree. I had 3 transactions that were approved and SUCCESSFUL and I still didn’t get the one portal I was trying to get. Lost ETH and MATIC in the process. Also, should limit it to one portal per transaction.
I am with gotchi gang since the beginning even though I am not type of guy that is spending much time of Discord. I was waiting for the moment of launch since a long time. I was super excited on launch on January 4th that was postponed due to extremely high gas.
Now it supposed to be better but unfortunately it didn’t and after portal approval my buy transaction failed… I would really love to have oportunity to get at least one gotchi… I even promised one little fellow to my lovely girlfriend and sadly we don’t have such a oportunity right now, without paying x5 price per one portal. Please consider this solution frens.
I believe that you understand this situation and somehow will find a solution.
Wish you all the best frens.
I missed out on the haunt because I was at work. With that said, I’m sure I would have missed out anyways if it sold out in a minute.
I think every address with GHST should have the opportunity to buy at least 1 portal. So is there a way that you can set up Haunt 2 such that every GHST holding address that didn’t get a portal in Haunt 1 has a specific time frame in which they can purchase a portal (e.g. 72 hour time frame where no other addresses except the one address can purchase a portal). This way, everyone has the same opportunity to buy a portal.
Hi all, enjoying the interesting replies thus far. There are some very unique approaches being put forward.
Today was frustrating for many but I think the key take away is Aavegotchi interest has already outgrown its current haunt model. what about a larger Haunt, ala TopShot 50k drops? less cryptopunk collectibes model and more mainstream scaling to meet demand.
I’m not afraid of losing collectability because early haunts will always have that OG value. I’d rather get to a dozen haunts and mass adoption than just hodl the limited supply meme. Also, value comes from these Aavegotchis utility and with Season 1 of Rarity Farming coming… it would be terrible to not let everyone who wants to play, have a chance.
@Jesse_gldnXross I think this approach makes sense, there is a broad section of the community that want to participate but can’t at these resale prices.
Additional haunts to make this more inclusive is the right thing to do.
My concern though is that the whales that purchased in the first haunt will out vote this proposal on snapshot in favour of the ‘limited quantity hodl’ meme.
I think it’s too early to worry about limiting supply - there is significant opportunity to rarify your gotcha’s via the game mechanics going forward (this is largely the point of the game) - this isn’t a Rare Pepe or Punks once and done type NFT.
Greater inclusion at the start will grow the audience for these longer term.
I am one of the early adopters who have always supported the project. I am an aagent level 12. I participated in the first raffles. I voted in governance.
And for a transaction problem of didn’t want to pass, I’m out of the game.
It’s very frustrating. I’m very disappointed.
To see that today, among the “lucky”, most are not interested in the game but just to make a big profit by selling their portals, it disgusts me.
I cannot understand why you imposed this limitation of 10000 portals. What is the point of disappointing your most faithful servants?
Today, you can decide what you want, I have neither the desire nor the strength to fight beside you. Good luck for the future
